Interchanging Rail Traffic

since 1889

Switching Services

TRRA is one of the largest intermediate switching terminal railroads in the United States and interchanges with all six of the Class I railroads.

Trains are received by TRRA from interchange partners, namely one of the six Class I Railroads. The railcars are disconnected from the Class I Railroad’s locomotives, then handled by TRRA locomotives and crews, and handed back to an interchange partner.

TRRA’s strategic location and interchange capabilities allows our customers to bring trains to TRRA to be efficiently separated and re-blocked for departure east, west, north or south.

Our location also benefits our industrial customers giving them access to America’s national freight rail network and global markets beyond.
